Apple's latest version of its video and audio compression application, Compressor 2.1, packs a lot of new features and produces smaller video files for publishing to the Web or DVD.
In this tutorial, Apple-certified instructor Larry Jordan shares workflows and techniques to help DVD Studio Pro and Final Cut Pro users master media compression. The training covers how to work with markers, create custom destinations, improve video and audio quality, customize both interface and settings preferences, and more.
It explains bit-rate and GOP. Bit-rate is the data rate in which video and audio files are played, with lower rates there comes lower quality video, and higher rates there comes high quality video but larger file sizes. GOP, or Group-of-Pictures, is the style of MPEG compression which takes groups of pictures info one frame to decrease file sizes. Jordan discusses these topics in depth.
